Calendar 2009

Did you miss the deadline to submit your PWD picture for our upcoming PWDCGC Calendar? Well, we have great news for you. We are postponing the calendar till 2009! Now is your chance to submit your PWD pictures. We are looking for Seasonal / Holiday and Fun PWD pictures. We are asking for pictures of PWD's only - no people please. Get out that camera and start shooting. We are looking for quality images.

Tips for taking pictures of your PWD:
• Outside pictures generally have better lighting
• Eliminate clutter in your image. Look for a clean or appealing background
• Make sure your PWD is the subject of the photo
• The PWD should be the largest item in the photo.
• Look for opportunities to show off the seasons of the year or holidays appropriate for the months of the calendar
• No Conformation Show pictures
• No people in the pictures
• Professional photos must have written permission from the photographer

To submit your picture for consideration, please send a color 8 x 10 to PWDCGC Calendar, P O Box 852, Granger Indiana 46530-0852 by April 30, 2008. All submitted pictures will be available at the Annual Picnic in June for members to vote on. Winning pictures will be selected by YOU. Each member can vote for up to 12 pictures. If you have already submitted your pictures, you do not need to re-submit them. I will store them and bring them to the annual meeting / picnic in June.

AKC Sanctioning
When the PWDCGC was formed in 1990, one of our goals was to be recognized by the AKC as a “Stand Alone” breed specific dog club. Since 2003, the AKC has been working with the PWDCGC to revamp our Constitution and Bylaws to comply with AKC requirements, as well as defining our geographical location of our vast membership. We are pleased to announce that on October 23, 2006, AKC acted favorably on our request and the Portuguese Water Dog Club of Greater Chicagoland has been approved for the holding of licensed championship point events.
